"On Saturday, July 14, His Holiness Khabje Sangye Pema Zhepa Dudjom Rinpoche will present a teaching at the Newport Visual Arts Center from 4 to 6 pm. He will talk about a path of compassion. This will be the first time he has been to Newport. He is visiting from his monastery in Nepal."

Newport Celebrates July 4th, 2018

Newport Oregon Rocks - 4th of July Festivities

  • Newport Celebration Run.

    Celebration starts at 8:30 AM from Rogue Brewery on SE Marine Drive in Newport. Visit Newport Celebration for details and entry materials.
  • Free 4th of July Concert.

    Annual Free Community 4th of July concert at Newport Middle School. Conductor Adam Flatt will celebrates America’s Independence Day. The concert starts at 4 p.m. It is free.
    Come early for a “Grand Old 4th of July BBQ,” at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy burgers, side dishes and more. Cost for the barbecue is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Kids five years younger are free.
    Newport Middle School is at 825 NE 7th St. (541) 574-0614.
  • Fourth of July Fireworks on the Bay Front

    Newport Fireworks at Dusk. An annual display of dazzling fireworks over Yaquina Bay. Also, boats on the water fire off their flares, which is often awe-inspiring.

With dour reports on the extent and severity of plastic pollution in our oceans almost as abundant as the waste itself, it’s easy to feel discouraged. But on World Oceans Day at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the focus will be on not just the problem but also on practical, everyday solutions.

At the Aquarium, staff, volunteers and even animals will go above and beyond to make the June 30th event extra special for Aquarium visitors. The annual event is celebrated by organizations across the globe to promote understanding and stewardship of the ocean.
